Obituary of Margaret Lucile Mottet

Margaret Lucile Mottet, the daughter of Othaniel George and Margaret Elizabeth (Fuhs) Failyer, was born February 23, 1924 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She graduated from Ottumwa Heights Academy in Ottumwa, Iowa.
On June 25, 1946, Margaret was united in marriage with John “Jack” Mottet in Ottumwa and they made their home in Newton, Iowa. Margaret devoted her life to her family, creating a loving and nurturing environment. She enjoyed cooking for her family as they enjoyed dinners around the table together. Margaret stayed busy making candy, Christmas ornaments and numerous crafts. Liking to stay busy also led to her involvement at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a faithful parish member.
Margaret died on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. She was 92 years old. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Mottet on March 11, 2004 and a brother, Kenneth Failyer.
Those left to honor Margaret’s memory include her daughter, Mary (Lynn) Altemeier of West Des Moines, Iowa; her son, John (Sherry) Mottet of Norwalk, Iowa; her daughter, Joanne Mottet of Prescott Valley, Arizona and her son, Eddie Mottet of Ames, Iowa; her ten grandchildren; her twenty-one great grandchildren; her sister, Cecilia Durflinger; her brothers-in-law, Msgr. Marvin Mottet and Ben Mottet; her sisters-in-law, Val Mottet and Donna Failyer and her many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am Friday, April 15, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. A time of visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A public vigil service will begin at 6:00 pm. Memorials may be designated to Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery or to Mercy Hospice in Johnston and may be left at the church or at the funeral home.
