Obituary of Viola Jane Vriezelaar-Pickett

Viola, 96, of Newton, passed from this life on Friday evening, January 22, 2016, at Heritage Manor Health Care in Newton. Viola Jane Vriezelaar-Picket, was born May 10, 1919, in her parent's home near Pella, the daughter of James Amos and Margaret (Van Reese) Koopman. She had attended the rural Webster School near Pella. On March 16, 1938, Viola was united in marriage with Raymond Vriezelaar in Otley. Viola and Ray moved to the Newton area in 1947. Viola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Viola is survived by her sons: Larry R. Vriezelaar of Indianola, Roger J. Vriezelaar of West Des Moines and Terry A. Vriezelaar of Newton; her daughter Linda B. Venenga of Kellogg; her eight grandchildren; her six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray on February 8, 1976; her special companion Kenny Ray Pickett; her three sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services, with services at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. With a burial at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery, on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Viola's name with her family or a charity of your choosing.
