Obituary of Rosalie L. "Rose" McDermott

Rosalie L. "Rose" McDermott, the daughter of Loy "Tuffy" Walter Holtsclaw and Gertrude Mae Golden, was born April 13, 1936 in Dixon, Missouri. Rose graduated from Baxter High School.
On June 30, 1956, Rose was united in marriage with Patrick D. McDermott in Newton. She had worked for the Maytag Company, for 10X and as a seamstress at DeLong sportsware in Grinnell. Rose was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, the theater, traveling and reading.
Rose died on Monday, May 17, 2010, in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center. She was 74 years old. Rose was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles.
Those left to honor Rose's memory include her husband, Patrick of Reasnor; her children, Jeff (Jane) McDermott of Newton, Teresa (Ralph) Jimenez of Ormond Beach, FL, Tod McDermott of Brighton, CO, Erin Thomas of Reasnor, Ryan (Amy) McDermott of Newton; her fourteen grandchildren; her eight great grandchildren and her brother, Leslie "Bud" Holtsclaw of Marshalltown.
Friends may call at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home after 1:00 p.m., Thursday. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21st at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Hospice of Jasper County 204 N. 4th Ave. E. in Newton.
