Obituary of Bessie Mae Rawlins

Bessie Mae Rawlins, the daughter of John and Zenobia (Lynn) O’Dell, was born September 27, 1922 in Seward, Nebraska. She graduated from high school in Russell, Iowa with the class of 1940. On October 6, 1940, Bessie was united in marriage with Dwight Rawlins. Bessie dedicated her life to love and care for her family. She was a longtime member of the Kellogg Christian Church. Bessie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. Bessie died on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Skiff Medical Center under the care of Skiff hospice. She was 93 years old. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dwight Rawlins, Sr., her son-in-law, Kelvin Frahm and her brother, John O’Dell; a sister-in-law, Nellie O’Dell and a brother-in-law, Arthur Chase. Those left to honor Bessie’s memory include her daughters, Marilyn (John) Main of Kellogg, IA and Connie Frahm of Newton, IA; her sons, Dwight (Ima) Rawlins of Kellogg, IA, Roger Rawlins of Kellogg, IA, Rick (Sharon) Rawlins of Kellogg, IA; her thirteen grandchildren; her twenty-six great grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Chase and Carrie (Walt) Faulconer; her brother, Fred (Grace) O’Dell and many extended family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to the Kellogg Christian Church or to Skiff hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
