I worked for Herb at General Dynamics when I also moved to California from Iowa (as he did). I was 30 and was my father's age. He became my everyday new father. At time, I watched MASH every week. Herb was a real life Colonel Potter! Always calm, caring, and holding the answer to everyone's problem. I used to answer his phone when he was away from his desk, and the respect others held for him was extraordinary. The president of General Dynamics called regularly. Enough said.
He is sadly missed by more than one can imagine.
