Obituary of Leo A Duggan

Leo A. Duggan, 87, of Newton, died Friday morning, April 10, 2015, in Garden View, at Park Center in Newton.
Funeral services for Leo will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services; 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home. In LIEU of flowers memorials are being designated to Leo family or to Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society.
Leo Duggan, the son of Leo R. and Cordelia (Miller) Duggan, was born August 7, 1927, in Rockwell, Iowa, and was a high school graduate.
On June 10, 1951, Leo was united in marriage with Alice Marie Hausmann, in Pesotum, Illinois. To this union four children were born, David, Theresa, Ann and Mary. Resident of the Newton area since 1957, Leo was employed by John Deere for twenty years, and later the Maytag Company in the assembly department at plant II. He also enjoyed farming, airplanes, toy tractors, his birds, gardening, trains, and his love for his dog, now deceased, Cutie. He devoted his life to his family and friends, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a kind and warm hearted man, and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Those left to honor Leo’s memory include his son David L. (Mary) Duggan; his three daughters: Theresa Marie (Kirk) Langmaid, Ann Ronette (Tom) Curphey and Mary Irene (Larry) Leadbetter; his thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and his many good friends.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alice Marie on August 23, 2003; a brother Daniel and a sister Noreen.
