Mr. Pitz was my 8th and 9th grade Social Studies (history, government and civics) teacher at Saydel's Woodside Junior High School from 1965 to 1967. Sixty years later, I still remember him. He was an excellent teacher.

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I lost my dad in December. I really enjoyed your dad as a teacher at JHS. We were at opposite ends of the political spectrum, but he made government class fun and interesting. He had a passion for what he taught and cared about the students he taught. He was a classic "small school" teacher in that he was more than just someone who lectured and corrected tests. He was a part of our lives. I have many fond memories of your dad and pray that God will comfort you as you deal with his loss.

I am so very sorry for your unexpected and difficult loss. My prayers go out to your entire family. Although very difficult to believe at the present moment, I am absolutely certain that the Lord has spared Dave from even more tragic and perhaps more painful issues in the future for Dave and/or the family. Our God is an AWESOME God. Keep your faith and trust in the Lord and he will provide comfort and peace and all that is needed to deal with all that has happened. Mr. Pitz was such a phenomenal teacher! He was always so caring and compassionate. He would go above and beyond the normal expectation of what a teacher should do and made sure to always look out for the best interest of each student! I have very fond memories of him. Each day I looked forwars to going to his class. He was so much fun which added to the fact that learning in his class was something each of us enjoyed! He was and always will be a hero to so many of us.

Bonnie, So many people loved Dave. He was warm and caring and loved his family, as evidenced by all the Happy Dollars he shared at Kiwanis. He was so proud of you and your leadership in League of Women Voters and so thoughtful in the way he looked out for Jeanne Bridenstine so she could get to Kiwanis. He had a lightning wit and his sense of humor kept us smiling and sometimes groaning. I am so sorry for your loss. Kiwanis will miss him terribly. May God bless your family at this very sad time.
