Obituary of Ilene May Womeldorff

Ilene M. Womeldorff Mingo Ilene M Womeldorff, 98, formerly of Mingo, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2011, at Stewartville Care Center in Stewartville, Minnesota. Funeral services for Ilene will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the Mingo United Methodist Church. The Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. Rev. Jill Flyr, pastor of Mingo United Methodist, conducting the services. A lunch and visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, following the funeral, at the Mingo Community Center. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ilene's name are being designated to the Mingo United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing. Ilene, the daughter of Dr. Robert Anthony Ricketts and Nellie Irene Jones, was born August 25, 1912, in Zearing. She was a graduate of the Zearing High School, Class of 1930, and received her teaching degree from Iowa State University Teachers Colleges. She taught school in Hardin, Marshall and Story counties. She was later co owner with her husband of Jack's Food Store in Mingo, for 33 years. On June 5, 1935, Ilene was united in marriage with Vernon B. Womeldorff (Jack) in Colona, Illinois. She devoted her life to her family, and was a member of the Mingo United Methodist Church, and past member of the Federated Women's Club, Satellite Circle and Colfax Golf Club. Ilene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vernon on May 15, 1995; four brothers: Carroll, Robert, Max and Don Ricketts; and two sisters: Jeanette Allison and Mary Kay Thoreson. Those left to honor Ilene's memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Dorothy Womeldorff of Stewartville, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Denise(Gregg), Daniel(Tracy) and Donald(Jill); six great-grandchildren; her brother Wayne Ricketts of Champaign, Illinois; her sister Maxine Britten of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews.
