Obituary of Wendall Earl Woods

Wendall Earl Woods, 90, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services for Wendall will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A visitation with the family at the funeral home, will be Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., service time. In lieu of flowers memorials in Wendall's name or to Skiff Hospice. Burial will be in the Slagel Cemetery in rural Newton. Wendall, the son of Fremont Jay and Grace (Gray) Woods, was born July 14, 1920, in rural Newton. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1940, and attended Bradley University. Wendall had served his country with the US Army, during World War II. He was employed at Woods Jewelry in Newton, 1956 - 1972; Winpower, 1972 - 1982 and Moore Tool & Die, 1982 - 1996. He devoted his life to his family, and was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #111 and VFW Post #1655. He enjoyed the outdoors and antique cars. Wendall was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Luella White; and two brothers: Blane Woods and Arbor Woods. Those left to honor Wendall's memory include his son Gary Woods of Newton; daughter Junella Skokan of Milwaukee, WI; a grandson David Skokan; a great-grandson Joshua Skokan; his sister Lucille Nollin of Oregon; and his many friends.
