Obituary of Naomi Aline Adams

Naomi Aline Adams, 91, died Monday, October 18, at Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton, Iowa. Naomi lived most of her life in St. Joseph, Missouri. Naomi and her husband, John H. moved to Arizona in October of 2005 to live with a daughter, Sheryl Hoover. In August of 2008 Naomi moved to Newton, Iowa where her son John lives. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Family Worship Center with Rev. Douglas Cline officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, in St. Joseph. Naomi was born in St. Joseph on April 20, 1919 to James Arthur and Elbertha Madge (Leonard) Adams. She was married to John Herman Adams on January 21, 1942 in St. Joseph. Naomi was a stay-at-home mom until the children were raised. She was active as a Christian Educator, leading a Bible Club for the kids in the neighborhood, teaching in Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. She also was involved in with her children in Scouting. Naomi began working at K-Mart in 1965, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Open Bible Church and then the Family Worship Center, both in St. Joseph. She belonged to a Friendship Circle in St. Joseph where she had many special friends. Naomi was a devout Christian and served her church in many capacities through the years. She enjoyed doing many different types of crafts. Naomi is survived by a daughter, Sheryl (Roy) Hoover of Peoria, Arizona and their children: a daughter Rochelle (Kenneth) Pohl, and their children, Nicole (Zachary) Johnston and son Carter; Christin (Daniel) Hiner and daughter Kenadi; and a son Travis, all of Texas. A son, Bradley (Ellie) of Maryland and Brad?Ts children, Jessica and her twin daughters, Madeline and Abigail; Bradley Jr. and Benjamin, all of California. Another son, Steven (Diana) and their children Steven II and Brian all of Arizona. A daughter, Krista (Montgomery) Myles and children Klarissa Bell, Devlin Bell, Jared Bell, Montgomery Jr., Makhail, and Westin, all of Michigan. Naomi is also survived by two sons, the oldest is John E. (Marvelyn) of Newton, Iowa and their children, John P. (Shawna) and their daughter Amamda of Kansas; a daughter Jennifer of Washington DC, and a son Michael (Kyra) and children, Seth, Cadence and Aliya of Newton. Naomi?Ts youngest son is Timothy (Ruby) of Orrick, Missouri and their children, Christopher (Shaunda) of Kansas and David of Nebraska. Naomi was the seventh child of nine children and is survived by a sister, Wanda Lance of Cambridge, Wisconsin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Those preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, John Herman on June 27, 2007, an infant son, an infant granddaughter, six brothers, Charles, Everette, Floyd, Fred, Claude and Dwain, and a sister, Genevieve. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Jasper County in Newton or Family Worship Center in St. Joseph.
