Obituary of Norma Jean Versteegh

Norma Jean (Marsh) Versteegh, the daughter of Homer "Sport" Marsh and Neva Kline and Art Waters, was born July 6, 1925 in Tracy, Iowa. She attended the Newton Senior High School. On November 9, 1942, Jean was united in marriage with Lloyd Irving Versteegh in Missouri. She devoted her life to her husband and family. As a younger woman, Jean enjoyed ice-skating, bowling, traveling up north during the summer with family and friends and Thursday night "girls-night-out". Jean loved her family and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Jean died on Friday, August 20, 2010 in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa. She was 85 years old. Jean was preceded in death by her son, Lee; her father; her mother; her step-father; her twin brother, Jimmy and her sister, Helen. Those left to honor Jean's memory include her husband, Lloyd of Newton; her son Mike "Luke" (Rhonda); her grandson, Jordy (Jodi); her granddaughters, Riley and Nicole; her great grandchildren, Hunter and Halli; her nephew and niece and her many good neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated in Jean's name to Hospice of Jasper County or the Newton Animal Rescue League and may be left at the funeral home.
