Obituary of Debra Benson

Debra Benson, known affectionately as Debbie by most, was born on August 15, 1952, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was the beloved daughter of Cliff and Colleen Beyer and grew up in Montezuma, Iowa, alongside her older sister, Diane, and older brother, Darwin. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1970.

On March 10, 1972, Debbie married the love of her life, Donald (Don) Benson. In 1974, they made their home in Kellogg, Iowa, where they raised their family and built a life together.

Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Don, their two children Jeremy (Cara) Benson and Jill (Michael) Owens, and her four cherished grandchildren: Gabe, Ellie, Kinsley, and Kyler.

Debbie died, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Pella Comfort House in Pella, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Colleen Beyer, her brother Darwin, and her sister Diane.

Debbie's love for her family was deep and unwavering. Her warmth, kindness, and presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

We will honor Debbie's life 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday and again during lunch following the service. Memorials may be designated in Debbie's name to the Kellogg Fire Department and may be left at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
