Obituary of Kirkham John Selby

Kirkham John Selby, the son of Herbert S. and Harriett H. (Kirkham) Selby, was born on August 16, 1949, in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Newton Senior High School with the Class of 1967 and went on to earn his degree from the University of Iowa in 1971.

Following graduation, Kirk began his career at the Maytag Company, where he worked in the payroll department for 29.5 years, until the office's closure.

Kirk enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including golfing, bowling, watching movies, and visiting various libraries. He was known for his quiet demeanor and love of simple pleasures.

Kirk passed away at his home in Newton on June 5, 2025, at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, H. Spencer Selby.

He is survived by his sister, Martha Selby (Mitchell Squire) of Ames, IA and a niece, Alexa Squire (Minneapolis, MN) and nephew, Malcolm Squire (Oakland, CA).

Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials in Kirk's name may be designated to NHS Athletics for Boy's Golf and left at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
