Obituary of Michael Ray Wallis

Michael Ray Wallis, the son of Raymond L. and Margery M. Humphrey, was born June 7, 1942, in Grinnell, Iowa.  He graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1960.  Mike served in the United States Navy until 1963.

On January 28, 1964, Mike was united in marriage with Anna Jane Sparrow in St. Charles, Missouri.  He worked for the Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa, retiring after 37 years from the maintenance department.  Mike was a member of the U.A.W. Local #997 retirees union.

Mike died on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.  He was 82 years old.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor Mike’s memory include his wife, Jane Wallis and his brother, Chester Wallis.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Pence Reese Funeral Home in Newton.  The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time.  A Facebook Live broadcast will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the funeral home Facebook page.  Memorials may be designated in Mike’s name and may be left at the funeral home.
